JOHN L. BLACK
John L. Black, 78, of Brave, PA died Tuesday, September 15, 2026 in Washington Hospital Greene.
He was born September 2, 1948 at Brave, PA, a son of the late john L. Black and Mary E. Hockenberry Black.
John did auto body work most of his working career. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Surviving are four sons, Thomas Black of Brave, PA, Tim Black and his wife Tonya of Rutan, PA, Robert Black and his wife Betty Jo of Ryerson, PA, and John Boy Black and his wife Missy of Holbrook, PA; twelve grandchildren, Carla McClure, Travis Black, Corey Black, Tracy Simpson, Devin Black, Robert Black, Brayden Black, Rory Black, Kathleen Black, Trevor Black, Cody Black, and Rylee Black; three great-grandchildren, Oakley Simpson, Ava Black, and Owen Simpson; one brother, William Black of Holbrook, PA; and three sisters, Colleen Darling of Pentress, Joan Stewart of Brave, PA, and Karen Stuyvesant of Belmont, WV.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen June Black who died on April 14, 2026; one brother, George Black; and two sisters, Mary Jean Moore and Sara Wilson.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home, 5894 Mason-Dixon Highway, Blacksville, WV from 10:000 AM until 11:00 AM on Friday, September 18, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in the Olive Cemetery at Pentress.
