Joseph I. Wise, 76, of Brave, PA died August 21, 2013 at his residence.
He was born December 1, 1936 at Pine Bank, PA, a son of the late Ira "Buss" Wise and Verda Jane Phillips Wise.
Joe was a retired foreman from Accurate Brass. He worked for the company for more than 35 years. He was the first man hired when the plant opened. He was a 50 year member of the Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department. Joe was a 1956 graduate of Waynesburg High School. He attended California State Teachers College and served on the Brave School Reunion Committee. Joe was a veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Wise was a member of the Kent's Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Nila Mae Ellks Wise; two daughters and their spouses, Vicki Lou Smith and husband David of Winchester, VA; and Heidi Jo Wise of Brave, PA; one brother and sister-in-law, Albert Jack Wise and his wife Barbara of Waynesburg; two sisters and their spouses, Clara Lea Gaston or Waynesburg and Linda Jane Hall and her husband Russell of Waynesburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wise was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Louie Mae Wise.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home, 5894 Mason Dixon Highway, Blacksville, WV from 2-4 & 7-9 Thursday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Friday with Rev. Rose Saunders officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park in Jefferson, PA.
