June Catherine Clovis Kerr, 91, of Galax, Virginia died Monday, July 5, 2010 in the Twin County Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Kerr was born June 21, 1919 in Wadestown to Frank and Ada Martin Clovis. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Kerr; great-granddaughter Holland; and a sister, Betty Carpenter.
Having received her masters degree from WVU, June taught school in the Monongalia County School System (Blacksville, Pentress, and Wadestown) for fifty-one years, the latter years assuming the title of principal.
She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority and an avid WVU sports supporter. At one time she was very active in the 4-H Club in the Wadestown area and was a member of the Wadestown United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Larry and Jan Kerr of Friendsville, Tenn; daughter Martha (Marty) Kerr of Morgantown; grandchildren, Drs. Clay and Staci Stalcup; Kelli and Chad Wilson; Kati and Jack Carley; Ryan Kerr and fiance' Rachel all of Knoxville, Tennessee; great-grandchildren Seth and Aiden Stalcup; her beloved dog Ally; and brother-in-law Bruce Carpenter of New Carlisle, Ohio.
The funeral service will be held Friday, July 9, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Wadestown United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rose Saunders officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Cemetery at Pentress, WV. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until service time at the church.
