Junior (Gail) Jenkins, 81, of Core, WV died Wednesday, March 18, 2009 in the Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born June 24, 1927, near Sutton, WV, a son of the late Van and Clara Crites Jenkins.
Gail was a United States Army veteran having served in the Korean War. He was a retired Monongalia County School bus driver, and a farmer.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Lois A. Shriver Jenkins. They were married on August 28, 1955. He is also survived by two sons, Charles Van Jenkins and his wife Paula of Core and Glenn Allen Jenkins and his wife Lynn of Lilburn, GA; one daughter Janet Gayle Coen and her husband Harold of Core; five granddaughters, Ella Jo Jenkins and her fiance' James Conner, Amanda Kay Stull and husband Michael, Rebecca Ann, Abigail, and Rachel Jenkins; and one great-granddaughter, Roselynn Jo Tennant; and one sister, Irene Bell of Spraggs, PA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Orvil Jenkins, and two sisters Lucy Jones and Linda Andrenock.
Junior was a kind and loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa, and will be missed by all who knew him.
He loved animals, whittling, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed sharing his memories about the children who traveled to school on his bus and memories from his time spent in the army.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Thursday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Friday with the Rev. David Lancaster and Rev. Rose Saunders officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Cemetery at Pentress.
