Leon Merl “P.I.” Tennant, 86, of Hundred, WV died Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at his residence.

Merl was born July 8, 1929 at Bobtown, PA, a son of the late Pierce I. Tennant and Snoda Ellen Eddy Tennant.

Mr. Tennant was a retired coal miner. He retired from Consolidation Coal Company Loveridge Mine at Fairview. He retired with 38 years of service. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of American District 31 in Fairmont.

Surviving are one daughter and her spouse, Carolyn and James Knisely of Mannington; three sons and their spouses, Danny Tennant and his wife Susie of Hundred, Donald M. Tennant and his wife Jeannie of Daybrook, and Roger Tennant of Hundred; one sister, Alberta R. Jones of Fairview; five grandchildren, Amy Jo Fluharty and her husband Craig of Hundred, Michael Knisely and his wife Jennifer of Lewisburg, Brandy Tennant and his wife Heather of Proctor, April Horne and her fianc’e Ryan Davis of Morgantown, and John R. King, Jr. and his wife Julia of Rachel; and Joshua Clay Cecil, whom Merl and his late wife, Louise thought of as a grandson; great-grandchildren, Skylar Knisely, Olivia Knisely, Tessa Knisely, Amber Fluharty, Danielle Fluharty, Ryan Fluharty, Brooke Tennant, Ashley Tennant, Devon Tennant, Dylan Tennant, Johnathan King, Samuel King, Alexander Horne, and Hayden Davis; two step-great-grandchildren, Abby Brown and Seth Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Louise Tennant, who died on May 12, 2014; two brothers, Kyle Copeland and Walter Hayes Tennant; one half-brother, Willis D. Tennant; and one half-sister, Isabelle Wilkinson.

Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home, 2678 Hornet Highway, Hundred, WV from 6-9 PM Thursday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Friday with the Evangelist Steve Stevens officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Luke Cemetery at Mooresville.
