Lila O Haught, of Bula, passed away Monday evening, October 6, 2025 surrounded by her family. Born on June 27, 1935, Lila was the daughter of Dan and Hazel Owens of Daybrook. On October 31, 1953, Lila married Francis Ray “Pete” Haught.  She moved to the farm and became his loving, caring, hardworking farmer’s wife for 71 years.

Together they raised two children, Clifton Ray (Susan) Haught of Glen Dale, and Beth (Randy) Stiles of Crossroads.  Her children and grandchildren were blessed watching her cook, can, clean and serve others in her home and at Bula Baptist Church, where she was a lifelong member.

Her 4 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren filled her years with joy – Molly (Teddy) Kluemper of Huntington, and their children, Sophia, Lucianne, and Vincent; Morgan (Zach) Allman of Glen Dale, and their children, Brody, Ruxin, and Dominic; Spencer (Bethanie) Stiles of Cheat Lake and their children, Henley, Challen, Briston, and Cayman; and Lana (Tyler) Winkler of Cheat Lake and their children, Carly, Archer, and Hayes.

Lila was the matriarch of the family. Even in her golden years, she gave wisdom out freely to keep us all anchored to our Bula roots.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Owens and Terry Owens, and a sister, Nina Statler.

The family would like to thank Lila’s caregivers for the love and devotion shown to Lila and her family during her illness.  The caregivers were Kimmie, Edna, and Debbie.

In keeping with her wishes a simple gathering of friends and family, there will be a graveside service at the Core Cemetery in Bula on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at 1:00 PM.  A dinner will be served at the Bula Baptist Church immediately following the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to the Core Cemetery for upkeep and a future addition.  Contributions can be mailed to Francis R. Haught, 7499 Mason-Dixon Highway, Wana, WV  26590.
