Lillian O. Sterling, 97, of Hundred, WV died Thursday, August 9, 2007 in the Seabright Personal Care Home in Rogersville, PA.
She was born March 28, 1910 at Hundred, WV a daughter of the late Bruce Reed and Sarah Ellen Frazier Reed.
Lillian was a housewife. She quit school at the age 15 to help raise 5 younger brothers and sisters due to the death of her mother. She kept house for her father and cared for the younger siblings.
Mrs. Sterling was a member of the Littleton United Methodist Church. However, she attended the Valley Chapel Methodist Church at Holbrook during her stay at the personal care home. She attended every Sunday until her health no longer permitted her to go. She was a member of the Hundred Senior Citizens.
Surviving are two daughters & sons-in-law, Bula and husband Harold D. Simms of New Freeport, PA and Kathryn and husband Kenneth Flading of St Clairsville, OH; two sons & daughters-in-law, Larry B. Sterling and his wife Marcia of Holbrook, PA and Terry R. Sterling and his wife Mary of Wichita, Kansas; one sister, Virginia Garrison of New Freeport, PA; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Friend Sterling, who died on November 15, 1997; one son, Ronald F. Sterling, one daughter, Sandra Jean Ott; one great-granddaughter; three sisters, Elizabeth Kennedy, Dorothy Harsh and Flossie Mason; and seven brothers, Jasper Earl Reed, Charles Reed, Joseph Reed, Scott Reed, Clarence Reed, Kelley Reed, and Harry Reed.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred from 2-9 PM Sunday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1:00 PM Monday with the Rev. Charlene Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in the Harmony Cemetery at Burton.
