Luther B. “Dickie” Simpson, 91, of Clermont, Florida and formerly of Wana died Friday, February 17, 2017 and went to be with his wife of 53 years, Glenda Anderson Simpson.

Dickie was born April 6, 1925 in Wana, a son of the late Thomas Benton Simpson and Minerva Wise Simpson.

Surviving are his second wife, Ruby Ater Simpson, of Florida; four daughters, Janice Simpson of Westover, Joyce Williams of Wana, Donna McClellan of Westover and Drema (John) Frazier of Mount Morris, PA; five grandchildren, David (Stacey) Wilson of Parkersburg, Daphne (Eric) Mauzy of Maysville, WV, Sam (Melissa) Wilson of Westover, Jamie (Mark) Ingle of Falling Waters, WV, and Benton Frazier of Mount Morris; nine great-grandchildren, Sulivan Wilson, Rylin Wethes, Maverick Wilson, Blaise Wilson, Ember (Sue) Wilson, Jakob Mauzy, Jayden Wilson, Trista Sickles, and Jackson Ingle; two sisters, Elva Dee Wilson and Mildred Pratt; and two brothers, Alex Simpson and Elmer Simpson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Simpson and Wilbert Simpson.

Mr. Simpson retired as a foreman from Pursglove Mine #15, Consolidation Coal Company.

He loved spending his vacations at Myrtle Beach and camping with his family. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren when they were younger.

Dickie was a United States Army veteran who served during World War II. He also was a member of the Littleton Lodge #131, AF & AM and he was a member of the Wana United Methodist Church.

Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home, 5894 Mason-Dixon Highway, Blacksville, WV from 6-8 PM Thursday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1:00 PM Friday with Rev. Donald Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Eakin-Wana Memorial Cemetery at Wana, WV.
