Marcia Kay Core, 75, of Wadestown passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the Sundale Nursing Home in Morgantown, following a courageous battle with leukemia since 2011. Mrs. Core was born in Bula on May 7, 1940, the daughter of the late Raymond and Alma Lee Bean Russell.
She grew up on Beechurst Avenue, Morgantown, and graduated from Morgantown High in 1958. After graduation, her family moved to Wadestown, where she met and married her husband of 55 years, Norman Core. Mrs. Core was employed by Valley Health Care System as a PCS – Family Support Worker.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Dawn Elaine Forsythe and son-in-law, Jim, of Berkley Springs and her son, Michael Norman Core, still at home. Her sister and brother-in-law, Jacqueline (Jackie) and Lloyd Moore of Wadestown, two grandsons, Erik Hartley of Morgantown and Jeremy Hartley & Shannon Thibodeau of Wadestown, two great-grandsons Mason Hartley and Jake Thibodeau, and nephew, Justin Moore of Tampa, Florida. Also, brother-in-law’s, Jim Core of Hundred, John Core and wife Mary Jo of Ocala, Florida, and sister-in-law, Mary Core Stottlemire of Warren, Ohio. Numerous other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her nephew, Jared Cole Moore, and brother-in-law’s, Russell Core, Jr., Max Core, Charles “Doc” Core, and sister-in-law’s, Ruby Core Herr, Maxine Core Myers, Patricia Core Shrout Furey, and Norma Core.
She became a member of the West Warren Baptist Church of Wadestown in 1962, where she had served as treasurer for a number of years.
She and her family had traveled all over the 48 states numerous times, and of all their travels, her favorite vacation spot was Deadwood, SD. She loved playing games, especially dominoes, IPAD games, and working crossword puzzles.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred on Saturday, November 21, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at 1:30 P.M. with Pastor Rose Saunders officiating. Interment will follow in the Wadestown Cemetery.
