MARK BEEN
Mark Richard Been, 73, of Ned Ridge, New Freeport, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia.
He was born April 9, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois, a son of the late Richard and Mary Ann Been.
Mark worked as a telecommunications engineer for more than 40 years and was known for his dedication, problem-solving skills, expertise, and strong work ethic. He was a member of the Sancho Church of Christ. Above all, Mark was a devoted father, a loving husband, a caring brother, and a loyal friend who deeply valued those around him. He cherished his faith, his family, and the quiet life, enjoying time spent at home reading and woodworking.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Janine “Jan” Fordyce Been; his daughter, Chelsea Overman, and her husband, Adam, of Chesapeake, Virginia; one brother, David Been of Chicago, Illinois; one sister, Julie Dykema of Chicago, Illinois; and two grandchildren, Aiden Overman and Emma Overman, who brought him great joy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Been.
In accordance with Mark’s wishes, his body will be cremated. Arrangements are entrusted to Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred, West Virginia.”
