Mary E. Higgins, 82, of Pentress, WV died Saturday, November 6, 2004 in the Evergreen Assisted Living Center in Morgantown.
She was born March 23, 1922 in Fayette County, PA, a daughter of the late John Howard and Mary Anna Fisher Hendershot.
Mrs. Higgins was a dedicated homemaker, wife, mother, granny, neighbor, and a long time member of the Olive United Methodist Church of Pentress. She was also a member of the Clay-Battelle Senior Citizens.
Survivng are one son & spouse, Joseph T. & Mildred Higgins of Pataskala, Ohio; three daughters & spouses, Anna Marie & Jack Pase of Pentress, Arlean & Lou Barlow of Wingate, NC, and Sheryl & Dennis Eastridge of Mt. Juliet, TN; one brother & spouse, George Raymond & Audrey Hendershot of Maidsville, WV; six grandchildren, Tammy Stevens, Tracey Gregor, Clinton Barlow, Andrew Barlow, Emily Eastridge and Jackie Eastridge; one step-grandson, Michael Eastridge; seven great-grandchildren and another due any day now; and three step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph T. Higgins, who died on October 30, 1986; brothers, Jim, Charlie and Gaylord; and a sister who died as an infant.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Monday. A service to celebrate the life of Mary Higgins will be held in the Olive United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM Tuesday with the Rev. David Lancaster officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Clay-Battelle Nutrition Center or to the Olive United Methodist Church.
