Mary Joe Ormiston Kerr of Brave, PA went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 19, 2011, in her home following a 10 year battle with cancer.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth R. (Jim) Kerr.
Mary Joe was born February 21, 1932 in her current home in Brave, PA. She was the only child of the late Everette (Sonny) and Lula B. Parsons Ormiston.
She graduated in 1950 from Margaret Bell Miller School in Waynesburg, PA and from Penn Commercial Business School in 1988.
Mary Joe worked for Greenway Mfg Company for 31 years. She also was employed by Elder-Beerman in Morgantown where she was service desk manager for 13 years. She also worked part time for the Blacksville D-Mart and she babysat her youngest great-grandchild Chloe.
Surviving are her children, H. James (Jimmy) Kerr of Meyersdale, PA, Phillip and Janet Kerr of Brave, and Kimberly and Ronald (Dick) Moore of Spraggs; six grandchildren, Heather (Randall) Orndoff, Kelly (James) Statler, Chris Kerr, Joe Moore, Eli Kerr, and Richie Tennant; six great-grandchildren, Mercedes and Tyler Orndoff, Troy, Olivia, and Chloe Statler, and Cameron Tennant.
Deceased in addition to her parents and her husband is a son Kenneth Earl Kerr and a granddaughter Moore.
Also surviving are two first cousins, Charles Feil and Wendy Feil; several nieces and nephews; and a good friend of the family, Kenneth (Himey) Iams.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Monday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Tuesday with the Rev. Rose Saunders officiating.
