MARY L. COPELAND
Mary L. Copeland, 84, of Blacksville, WV passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, May 6, 2025 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.
Born January 3, 1941 to the late Frank and Lucy Stiles. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia Raber, Anna Mae Lazzelle, and Dottie Stiles. She is survived by her sister, Betty Haught, and in-laws, Jim (Sue) Copeland, Connie Copeland, and Mona Joy Copeland.
Mary married her beloved husband, Raymond Copeland, Sr., on May 28, 1960. He preceded her in death on April 14, 2016. He embraced her as they were reunited at Heaven’s gates.
They were blessed with a son, Raymond Copeland, Jr., (Becky) and their family: Justin (Bailey), Adam (Angela and Ireland), Kevin (Jayme) Lilah, and Norah, and Hannah (Jordan). A daughter, Kim Hill (Ernie) and their family: Jeff (Lauren, Matthew, Titus, Benjamin, and Lydia) and Luke (Gillian). A son Mark (Debbie) and their family: Stephanie (Delainey and Casen) and Derek (Brooke). A special niece, Lisa (Rojack) and their family: Abbey (Tanner) and Chase. As well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mary worked at Westinghouse and retired as a custodian from Monongalia County Schools at Mason-Dixon Elementary.
Mary was a hard worker that took pride in every endeavor. She will be remembered for her impeccable cleaning skills, savory baking skills, and her green thumb gardening skills. She enjoyed walking/visiting with friends, spoiling her grandchildren, and making treasured memories with family. She touched, brightened many lives, and will live forever in the hearts of everyone she encountered.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary’s memory to the WVU Medicine Hospice or the Blacksville United Methodist Church.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home, 5894 Mason-Dixon Highway, Blacksville, WV from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 8, 2025. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Friday with Pastor Jeff Hill and Rev. Freddie Eddy, II officiating. Interment will follow in the Blacksville Cemetery.
