Maynard E. Tennant, 88, Jakes Run, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005 in the MonPointe Continuing Care Center in Morgantown.
He was born August 1, 1916 at Jakes Run a son of the late E. Irvin and Ottie E. McCord Tennant.
On August 6, 1938 Maynard married Nellie Fern Moore, who preceded him in death on February 19, 2002, after 63 years of marriage. Maynard retired from Pennzoil in 1978 with more than thirty years in the oil and gas production industry. He was a long-time member of the Jakes Run United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a son and spouse, Leonard and Sue Tennant of Cumberland, VA; daughter, Patricia Hostutler of Jakes Run; daughter and spouse, Sandra and Wayne Wilson of Wana; daughter and spouse, Pamela and Bruce Hall of Waynesburg, PA; a brother, Raymer Tennant of Pentress; sisters, Alma Joseph of Akron, OH and Alice Wise of Louisville, KY; eight grandchildren, Ronald Hostutler, Rebecca Tennant, Ryan and spouse Sally Wilson, Monica and spouse, Roger Reed, Aaron and spouse Carla Wilson, Marsha and spouse Randy Jones, Amanda and spouse Charles Auge, and Sara Hall; four great-grandchildren, Thomas and Rylee Jones, Brayden Wilson and Mackenzie Wilson.
In addition to his parents and wife, Maynard was preceded in death by one brother, Ernest Tennant and one sister Dessie Parrish.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Friday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 2:00 PM Saturday with the Rev David Lancaster officiating. Interment will follow in Olive Cemetery at Pentress.
