Merle Jesse Eddy, 80, of Core, died peacefully at home on November 7, 2014.
He was born January 26, 1934, at Core, a son of the late Jesse Eddy and Sylvia Yost Eddy.
Merle was a lifelong resident and farmer of the Core community where he had many wonderful friends and was loved by all who knew him.
Surviving are his brothers and sisters-in-law, Albert Eddy of Fairview, Mark and Betty Ann Eddy, Ronnie and Pam Eddy, all of Core; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pauline Wright and Jean Spicer of Core, Nancy and Jim Cummins of Fairview, Annabel and Delmas Bowser and Sara Eddy of Core, Blanche and Maxey Brantley of New Braunfels, TX; brothers-in-law, Carl Wise of Morgantown and Wade Bowser of Core, and sisters-in-law, Norma Eddy of Core and Mary Jo Eddy of Morgantown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Merle was preceded in death by brothers, Harlan, Otis, Robert, Roy, Harry, and Garry Eddy; and by sisters, Delores Eddy, Dorothy Wise, and Betty Bowser; brothers and sisters-in-law, Vaughn Wright, Jack Spicer, Midge Eddy, Shirley Eddy, and Dorothy Eddy.
The family would like to express special appreciation to former caregivers Geneva “Dee Dee” Yost and Rhonda Johnson Austin, and current part-time caregivers, nephew, Jonathan Eddy, and niece Debbie Morris, along with all of Merle’s brothers and sisters who provided continuous loving care to Merle for the past several years.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home, 5894 Mason-Dixon Highway, Blacksville, WV from 4-7 PM Sunday, and from 10:00 AM Monday until the 11:00 AM service.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM in the funeral home with the Pastor Robert Bennett officiating.Interment will follow in the Eddy Chapel Cemetery.
