Mildred J. Shoemaker, 75, of Spraggs, PA died Wednesday, May 25, 2016 in the Rolling Meadows Nursing Home in Waynesburg, PA.

She was born December 2, 1940, at Webster Springs, WV, a daughter of the late Kelly Cogar and Lelia Hall Cogar.

Mrs. Shoemaker worked at different nursing homes as a nursing aide. She spent most of her life taking care of other people.

She was a member of the Mt. Morris Gospel Tabernacle.

Surviving are three sons, David Hopkins of Mt Morris, PA, Mark Hopkins of Spraggs and Allen Shoemaker of Spraggs; one daughter, Barbara McCollum of Washington, PA; one brother, Roy Cogar of Waynesburg; two sisters, Edith Baker of Martinsburg and Abby Redmer of Alabama; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Shoemaker was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Oliver Shoemaker; and six brothers and sisters, Charles, Donald, Marvin, Kelly, Marian, and Martha.

Per the request of Mrs. Shoemaker her body will be cremated. Her cremains will be buried in the West Virginia National Cemetery at Grafton with her late husband.

All services will be private and will be held at the convenience of the family.

The Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville is in charge of arrangements.
