Monie Carl "Bill" Parker, 80, of Valparaiso, IN died February 6, 2014 at the Porter Regional Hospital of heart problems.
He was born March 25, 1933 at Jakes Run, WV a son of the late Monie Dee and Nellie Elizabeth Eddy Parker.
Monie was a graduate of Clay-Battelle High School class of 1951.
Mr. Parker worked for 31 years at Bethlehem Steel in Burns Harbor, IN as a planning engineer. He was a co-owner of Insulation Specialties at Wanatah IN.
He was a 32nd degree mason and a member of the Orak Temple, American Legion, Scottish Rite, and the United Methodist Church.
Monie served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955.
Survivng are his wife, Carol Ruth Cummins Parker, to whom he had been married to for 62 years; two children, Monie Owen Parker and wife Kim of Valparaiso, IN; and Mary Elizabeth Koontz and husband Brent of Woodbridge, VA; four grandchildren, Michael Koontz and wife Michelle of Yorktown, VA, Benjamin Koontz and wife Katie of Newark DE, Justin Parker and wife Holly of Wheatfield, IN, and Stephanie Parker Kennon of Eldon, MO; ten great-grandchildren, Logan and Lance Koontz, Kayla, Collin, Mia, and Jorja Kennon, Brody Koontz, David, Kylie Grace, and Connor Parker; one sister, Helen Louise Suder and husband Milford of Rivesville, WV; one nephew, Ronald Powell and wife Kathy of Homosassa, FL; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Nancy Cummins of Jakes Run, Joseph and Linda Cummins of Ft. Washington, MD, John Cummins of Valparaiso, IN, Robert Copeland of Fairview, WV; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Betty Simmons and a niece, Patricia Powell.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home, 5894 Mason-Dixon Highway, Blacksville, WV from 5-8 PM Friday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Saturday with Pastor Rob Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in the Eddy Chapel Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Jakes Run Assembly of God.
