Ola Marie Varner Willard, 93, of Days Run Road died Sunday, August 24, 2008 at her residence.
She was born December 10, 1914 at Logue Tennant Road, the daughter of the late John and Leona Belle Varner.
Ola was a wonderful cook. She was well known for her rhubarb and stew pie. She received an award for being one of the World's Best Gravy Makers.
Through the years her loves were gardening, canning, puzzles, soap operas, and visiting with her grandchildren and her cats.
She was a faithful watcher of Gun Smoke, Bonanza, and Walker Texas Ranger.
She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, her cats, and all who knew her.
Surviving are four sons and spouses, George (Sonny) and Anna Mae Willard of Cassville, Joe (Junie) and Jackie Willard of Pentress, Marvin (Gene) Willard and close friend Pat Pennington of Pentress, and David and Brenda Willard of Days Run; three daughters and spouses, Leona (Onie) Tennant of Days Run, Janet and DeWayne (Porky) Jenkins of Days Run, and C. Sue and Early Eddy of Days Run; four sisters, Maxine Norris of Youngstown, Ohio, Emmie Thomas of Sycamore, PA, Betty Morris of Waynesburg, PA, and Nellie Isner of Elkins; two brothers, Donald Varner of Wind Ridge, PA and Robert Varner of Tennessee; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Carl Willard in 1971; five sisters, Fanny Copeland, Gladys Moore, Blanche Limming, Mary Price, and Polly Funk; three brothers, Marvin Varner, George (Chex) Varner, Merle Varner; one grandson, Edward (Bucky) Tennant; one son-in-law, George (Buck) Tennant; one daugher-in-law, Lena (Ginger) Willard, and one nephew who was raised like a brother, Charles Varner.
The family greatly appreciates the loving care of Dr. Richard Gais and his nurse, Nancy Little, and the staff of Ruby Memorial Hospital and Monongalia General Hospital.

Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Wednesday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1:00 PM Thursday with the Rev. Samuel K. Hibbs, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Cemetery at Pentress.
