Ray P. Corder, 81, of Bridgeport, WV, formerly of Wana, died Friday, August 1, 2014 in The Heritage at Bridgeport, WV.
He was born August 29, 1932 at Everettsville, WV a son of the late Frank William Corder and Virginia P. Holley.
Mr. Corder was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict.
He was a retired coal miner having worked at the Blacksville #2 Mine. He was retired from Consolidation Coal Company and was a member of the UMWA Local Union #1702.
Ray was a member of the Wana United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Betty Jean Hoy and Joan Glaspell, both of Boothsville; one brother, Earl Holley, Jr. of Buckhannon; two step-sons, Frank Rose of Jakes Run and John Rose of Mooresville; one step-daughter, Elizabeth Betsy Vannoy of Core; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Corder, who died on May 3, 2008; and two brothers, Wilbert Holley and Bob Holley.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home, 5894 Mason-Dixon Highway, Blacksville, WV from 6-9 PM Monday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Tuesday with Rev. Michael Richards officiating. Interment will follow in the Eakin-Wana Memorial Cemetery at Wana.
