Rebecca “Becky” Steele, 72, of Jakes Run made her journey home to her heavenly father’s loving arms after a courageous battle with cancer on January 16, 2017.

She was the daughter of late Andy and Audie Tennant of Jakes Run. She was born November 25, 1944 in Morgantown.

Becky was a graduate of Clay-Battelle High School in the class of 1962. She was a member of the Jakes Run Assembly of God where she was an active member of Women’s Ministry, along with several other ministries.

She was blessed to be a loving wife, mother and granny. She touched the lives of many people in the community. Becky was a homemaker and enjoyed tending to the needs of her family and was passionate about spreading the love of Jesus with others.

Becky leaves behind her beloved husband of 53 years, Gary Steele; three children, Jeff and his wife Jill Steele of Fairview, Doug and his wife Beth of Jakes Run and Amanda Steele of Jakes Run. She is also survived by six grandchildren and one “fur” grandbaby, Alexis and Ashley Steele of Fairview, Jacoby, Elijah, Benjamin, and Caleb Steele of Jakes Run, and a “fur” baby, Milo of Jakes Run.

In addition to her immediate family she leaves behind a sister, Mary Lou Lemley, wife of the late Eugene Lemley of Mt. Morris; a brother Robert Tennant husband of the late Rosella Tennant of Fairview, a sister Dianne and her husband Charles Hunnell of Jakes Run; a sister-in-law, Virginia Tennant of Fairmont; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Thomas and her husband James Thomas, II and a brother David Tennant.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Monongalia General Hospital, Dr. Azar, WV Cares (Hospice) and everyone in the church and community for their prayers and support.

Friends may call at the Jakes Run Assembly of God from 6-8 PM Wednesday and from 2-4 & 6-8 PMThursday. Funeral services will be held in the church at 11:00 AM Friday with Pastor Rob Bennett and Rev. Rose Saunders officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Cemetery at Pentress.
