RICHARD ALLEN STATLER
Richard Allen Statler, 49, of Core (Mooresville Community) passed away February 1, 2021 at his home.
He was born August 3, 1971 at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown. He was the son of Gary and Janet Pekar Statler, also of Core.
In 1989 he graduated from Clay-Battelle High School where he excelled in golf. He worked for First Energy for 20 years. He served in the United States Navy for five years.
Besides having a passion for golf, he was also a fan of the Pittsburgh professional sports teams: Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates. He was also a fan of West Virginia Mountaineer sports teams.
Richard is survived by two sons, Austin Richard Statler of Washington, PA and Brennan David Statler of Morgantown. Also surviving are his parents, Gary and Janet and two sisters Jackie (Daniel) Copeland of Core and Cathy (Austin) Barnard of Newport News, VA. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family would like to extend thanks to Dr. Mark Johnson and Dr. Kristen Statler and the doctors and nurses of Morgantown Hospice who took extremely good care of him.
Family and friends will be received at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville from 5-8PM on Friday. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Freddie Eddy officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Cemetery at Pentress.

I’m so sorry to hear of Richards passing...he was such a nice guy in high school who always had a smile on his face and loved to laugh and joke around..although we lost touch after graduation I always considered him a friend..my thoughts and prayers are with his family...god bless...

Sorry for your loss. Richie and i were friends. We went back a long way to the early 90’s. I wanted to attend but we are in quarantine due to Covid 19
