Rick G. Cumpston, 61, died September 12, 2013 at his home in Cedar Park, TX.
He was born September 7, 1952, at Hundred, WV, a son of Russell Cumpston and Helen Phillips Cumpston.
Rick attended school at West Alexander, PA, Burton & Hundred, WV and graduated from Alleghany High School, Cumberland, MD in 1970. He graduated from Penn Technical Institute, Pittsburgh, PA in 1972 with a degree in electronics. He worked for Texas Instruments as a service representative in the DC/VA area before transferring to Austin, TX. With his interest in woodworking he left Texas Instruments and started his own Custom Built Furniture and Bunk Beds Etc. business in Cedar Park. Rick enjoyed scuba diving and had a passion for photography. During the past year, he began the Rick Cumpston Photography business, photographing many local bands, car clubs, animals and people portraits.
He is survived by his parents, Russell & Helen Cumpston of Cumberland, MD; a daughter Melissa Richardson and husband Reggie of Virginia; a granddaughter, Zoe Cumpston of Spotsylvania, VA; a brother, Randy Cumpston and his wife Stephanie Cumpston of Crozier, VA; and a sister, Sandy Duncan of Cumberland, MD.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred, WV from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 18, 2013. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 2:00 PM with the Evangelist Dick Bartrug officiating. Interment will follow in the Harmony Cemetery at Burton, WV.
