Roxie P. Tennant, 81, of Daybrook, WV died Thursday, May 28, 2009 in the Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born January 2, 1928 at Daybrook, a daughter of the late James B. Williams and Celeste O. Tennant Williams.
Mrs. Tennant was a retired cook from the Monongalia County School System. She retired with 17 years of service. She was a member of the Daybrook Church of Christ.
Surviving are three sons and their spouses, Billy Ray and Brenda Tennant of Mooresville, Jimmy Randall (Randy) and Gail Tennant of Daybrook, and Rodney and Kay Tennant of Jakes Run; one daughter and her spouse, Roxana and Michael Cahill of Virginia Beach, VA; eleven grandchildren, Sherri Corder, Mona Tennant, James Tennant, Billie Price, Nicki Tennant, Stephen Tennant, Joseph Tennant, Timothy McCormick, Amber Hardman, Mark Daniel Hardman II, and Donley Cahill; eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Fred Williams of Miracle Run and Richard Williams of Waynesburg, PA; and two sisters, Betty Lyons of Irvine, CA and Mabel McAfee of Spring Hills, Florida.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donley R. "Ike" Tennant, who died on April 18, 1988; one great-grandchild, Patrick Tennant; three brothers, Beryl Williams, James Williams, and Gearl Williams, and four sisters, Amanda Gump, Mary Henderson, Suda Mae Smith, and Jane Wheeler.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Wednesday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 2:00 PM Thursday with the Evangelist Mike Phillips and Evangelist Aaron Snider officiating. Interment will follow in the Williams Cemetery at Daybrook.
