Ruby V. Tennant McCardle, 79 of Fairmont, and formerly of Littleton, WV died Saturday, October 29, 2005 in Fairmont General Hospital with her family by her side.

Mrs. McCardle was born November 5,1925 in Wadestown, WV a daughter of the late Freeman and Kate Shriver Tennant.

Ruby graduated from Clay-Battelle High School in 1943 and Fairmont General Hospital School of Nursing in 1946 as a registered nurse. She worked for Dr. Howard D. Marcus in Hundred and Fairmont General Hospital retiring in 1978. She was instrumental in the development of the Community Health Center in Burton, WV and served on board of directors. She was a 4-H Leader, taught EMT classes at the Hundred Volunteer Fire Department and the United Emergency Unit in Hundred. She belonged to the Littleton Volunteer Fire Department Women's Auxiliary and was a member of the Littleton United Methodist Church having served as superintendent.

Surviving are four children and spouses; Sue and Jim Copeland of Littleton, Jean and Jim Fulton, Allen (Chip) and Sue McCardle, and Debbie and Porter Stiles, all of Fairmont. Seven grandchildren and spouses, Crystal Copeland of Littleton, Jeff and spouse Rachel Copeland of Bonaire, GA, Jaime and spouse Bryan Smith, Audra and Shari McCardle, Tori and Sarah Stiles, all of Fairmont. One brother Doyle Tennant of Powhatan Point, Ohio; and one sister, Velda Moore of Wadestown.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, A. Delbert McCardle, who died on August 31, 2002. The couple was married on September 18, 1948.

Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred, WV from 12:00 Noon until 8:00 PM Tuesday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Wednesday. Interment will follow in the Anderson-Bethel Cemetery at Littleton.
