RUTH CHARLENE SMITH

          Ruth Charlene Smith, 69, of Burton, WV died Friday, March 6, 2026 at her residence.

          She was born April 26, 1956, at Leesburg, VA, a daughter of the late Charles Goss and Katherine Selby Goss.

          Charlene was a retired secretary and had worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for more than 30 years.  She was a member of the Hundred Church of Christ.

          Surviving is her husband, William “Bill” Smith; two step-daughters, Susan Fields of Kearneysville, WV and Gloria Duvall of Martinsburg, WV; one half-brother, Wesley Shores of Bunker Hill, WV; three sisters, Judy Mae Foss of Benwood, WV, Nolie Mae Johnson of Funston, MD, and Mary Jean Shobe of Winchester, VA; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Viola Breeden.

          At Charlene’s request there will not be any services. 

          The Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred, WV is in charge of arrangements.

Charlene was a sweet,loving lady,I had the privilege of knowing from the Ladies Bilble study. Our Ladies Day was always a beautiful gathering of Sisters in Christ. Our deepest condolences to Bill and all the family

Bill we were so sorry to hear of Charlene’s passing. She was such a good friend to Roger’s mom. I still have the beautiful turquoise afghan she made for her. We lost a beautiful angel.
