Sara Louise “Sally” Ammons, 66, of Crossroads Community, Wana, WV died Monday October 5, 2015 at her residence.
She was born August 25, 1949 at Burton, a daughter of the late Richard Bartrug and Lucille Cumpston Bartrug.
Sally started her banking career with Bank of Hundred. She retired from the Huntington National Bank as a senior customer service representative. She retired with 25 years of service.
Mrs. Ammons was a member of the Hundred Church of Christ.
Surviving are her husband of 47 years, John “J.D.” Ammons whom she married on March 28, 1968; three sons and their spouses, John and Jennifer Ammons, Rojack and Lisa Raber Ammons, all of Crossroads, David and Jessica Ammons of Wana; one daughter and her spouse, Lisa and Joe Sollars of Daybrook; eight grandchildren, Tristan, Abbey, Nate, Joleigh, Kaitlyn, Chase, Alivia, and Noah; three brothers and their spouses, Russell “Dick” Bartrug and Lana of Bunker Hill, Sam and Mary Bartrug of McConnellsville, OH, and Ralph and Sue Bartrug of Burton; three sisters and their spouses, Debra Cork of Burton, Rhonda and Ron Askew of Burton, and Katherine Bartrug of Morgantown; her mother-in-law, Norma Ammons of Crossroads; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and brothers and sisters-in-laws.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler John Ammons; one nephew, Tommy Cork; her father-in-law, Murle Ammons; and three brothers-in-law, Jim Gibbons, Gary Freeland, and Dale Cork.
Sally’s life was her grandchildren. She tried to attend every function or sporting event that they were involved with. Her grandchildren said that she made the best milkshakes in the world. Christmas was a special time at her house as she went above and beyond to make sure that everything was just right for her grandchildren and family.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home, 2678 Hornet Highway, Hundred, WV from 3-9 PM Thursday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Friday with Evangelist Steve Stevens officiating. Interment will follow in the Harmony Cemetery at Burton.
