Scott Junior Yost, 87, of Hundred, WV died Saturday, July 23, 2011 at his residence.
He was born April 11, 1924 at Hundred, a son of the late Scott Yost and Genevieve Babbitt Yost.
Mr. Yost was a retired carpenter. He retired from the McAnallen Corporation in 1989. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 604 of Morgantown.
He was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church of Burton.
Scott was a United States Navy veteran who served in World War II. He served his country faithfully from August 3, 1943 to March 25, 1946. He served in the south pacific aboard the USS Lexington CV 16 which had a nickname of the "Blue Ghost". He was a member of the Earl Kiger American Legion Post #120 of Hundred. Scott was also a member of the USS Lexington CV 16 Association.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Phyllis Jean Shamblen Yost; two daughters and one son-in-law, Diana Lee Lemley and her husband Bill of Hundred and Brenda Sue Allison of Fairmont; three grandchildren and their spouses, Alesia Renee Allison and her husband Brian Plum of Fairmont, Melissa Jeskiewicz and her husband Joe of Lewisburg, NC, and Scott Lemley of Hundred; and two great-grandsons, Travis Scott Plum and William Jospeh Jeskiewicz.
Mr. Yost was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Fred Yost and Billy Yost, and one sister, Betty Lee Price Dove.
The family would like to thank Tracy Ash and Jamie Snyder of Amedisys Hospice of Morgantown for their care and compassion shown to Scott and his family during his illness.
Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred from 2-8 PM Monday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 2:30 PM Tuesday with the Evangelist Steve Stevens officiating. Interment will follow in the Harmony Cemetery at Burton.
