Steven Glen Hixenbaugh, friends know him as “Hixie” passed away in his home on Monday, January 12, 2026 in his home at the age of 77.  Steve was born on September 26, 1948 in Ravenna, Ohio.  He graduated from Howland High School.  Steve was drafted into the army in 1968 at age 19.  He served 4 years and was a radio operator in the Vietnam War and held an accommodation medal.

Steve was employed at General Electric for 15 years, until he and his wife Carol opened up Hixies General Store in 1983, which they operated together for 25 years.  Steve was an active member of the NWTF, which in 2025 he received an award for his dedication and contribution to the Federation and to his community.  Steve also served as a member of the West Greene School Board and loved to fish.

Proceeded in death are Steves parents Eva Hixenbaugh (Farley) and Glen Hixenbaugh. Steve is survived by his wife Carol of 57 years, his dog Muffin and his 2 Children Jeff (Chasity) Hixenbaugh of Waynesburg and Chrisine (Doug) Barnhart of New Freeport, Pa.  In addition, Steve has a sister Kathy (John) Moore) of Warren, OH and brother Danny (Nancy) Hixenbaugh of Warren, OH.

He has 4 grandchildren: Tyler (Aspen), Zachery (Alexis), Levi, and Riley (Logan), and his first great-grandchild Oakley Steven Barnhart.

The Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred, WV is in charge of arrangements.  All services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.  Interment will be in the Sand Hill Cemetery at Ned, PA.

Steve requested that any donations be made to the Tunnel of Towers Foundation to support Vietnam Vets.
