Virgil C. Statler, 81 of Carrico Hollow, Core, WV died Wednesday, February 13, 2008 in the Townview Health and Rehab Center in Canonsburg, PA.
He was born, March 10, 1926 at Spraggs, PA, a son of the late John Statler and Edna Cumberledge Statler.
Mr. Statler was a retired crane operator from General Motors. He retired with 26 years of service. He was a member of the United Auto Workers of America in Parma, Ohio. He was affiliated with the Fairall United Methodist Church. He was a United States Navy veteran.
Surviving are four daughters, Bonnie Schlegel and Patricia Fletcher, both of Carrico Hollow, Core; Ruth Zickefoose and Cathy Jean Frye, both of Akron, Ohio; three brothers, Kenneth Statler of Brockway, PA, Robert Statler of Aliquippa, PA, and Richard Statler of Amherst, Ohio; five sisters, Katherine Brand of Newton Falls, OH, Betty Folkens of Vermilion, OH, Jane Mooney of Vermilion, OH, Mary Walters of Geneva, OH, and Loretta Willis, of Danville, VA; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Marie Eddy Statler who died on December 3, 2000; one brother, Hubert Statler; two sisters, Irene Phillips and a sister who died in infancy.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville from 7-9 PM Monday (February 18, 2008), funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 2:00 PM Tuesday with the Rev. Mark Blair officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairall Cemetery.
