Wilbert Dee Simpson, 82, of Wana, WV died Wednesday, July 25, 2012 in the Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born September 21, 1929 at Wana, a son of the late Thomas B. Simpson and Minerva Wise Simpson.
Wib was retired from Consolidation Coal Company where he worked for 37 years. At the time of his retirement he was a shift foreman.
He was a United States Army veteran and a member of the Wana United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ethel Wiley Simpson; two sons, Michael C. Simpson and partner Ben Davis of Columbus, Ohio, Patrick L. Simpson and his wife Nancy of Grant Town; one daughter, Jennifer D. Simpson of Taiwan; three brothers, Luther B. Simpson of Archdale, NC, Elmer Simpson of Louisville, OH, and Alex Simpson of Waynesburg, PA; two sisters, Elva Dee Wilson of Waynesburg and Mildred Pratt of Carmichaels, PA; three grandchildren, Steven Simpson, Christopher Simpson, and Heather Zrvetz; and two step-grandchildren, Eddie Morris and Robert Morris, and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Thomas J. Simpson and by a brother, Raymond Simpson, and a sister, Evalena Simpson, who both died as infants.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville from 6-9 PM Friday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Saturday with the Rev. Sherry Rawlings and Rev. Don Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover.
