Wilborn Jack Whitlatch, age 74, Morgantown, WV passed away early Tuesday morning, June 18, 2013. He died in his sleep. Jack was born February 3, 1939 at his family’s residence near Wind Ridge, PA. His father was Charles Ambrose Whitlatch and mother was Grace Ardella Parsons Whitlatch. He attended Aleppo Township Elementary School, Richhill Township High School, and graduated from West Greene High School in 1958. Jack served as an auto repairman in the US Army from December 1961 until September 1964. His was stationed at Fort Richardson, AK. Jack was a retired farmer, mechanic, and township supervisor who lived most of his life near Wind Ridge, PA. After retirement, he enrolled in West Virginia University and was just 11 credits short of a degree in General Studies. In addition to his studies, he enjoyed visiting with the younger generation of students at the Mountain Lair.
Jack is survived by his five children: son David Whitlatch (Jean) of Hopwood, PA; daughter Lori Whitlatch of Waynesburg, PA; son Eric Whitlatch (Kiperly) of Waynesburg, PA; daughter Julie Palmer (Cory) of Waynesburg, PA; and daughter Stephanie Whitlatch of Carmichaels, PA: eight grandchildren; Andrew Sampey of Connellsville, PA; Melissa Sintich of Aiken, SC; James Whitlatch of Washington, PA; Wesley Whitlatch of Waynesburg, PA; Brittany Phillips of Nineveh, PA; David Whitlatch of Fort Bragg, NC; Autumn Phillips of Waynesburg, PA; and Justin Whitlatch of Waynesburg, PA: four great-grandchildren; Lilly Sintich, Ava Sampey, Alexis Teagarden and Noel Sampey: and two sisters, Pansy Imogene Brooke of Shady Side, OH and Mary Ann Neely of Cameron, WV.
Jack is preceded in death by one sister and five brothers: sister Pearl Eileen Baldwin, of Columbus, OH; Thomas Harold Whitlatch of West Finley, PA; Charles Ambrose Whitlatch, Jr. of Bridgeport, OH; Francis Clinton Whitlatch of Georgetown, PA; Samuel Ronald Whitlatch of Yuma, AZ; and Henry Abner Whitlatch of Wind Ridge, PA.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville, WV, on Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 3-5 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 11 AM with Pastor Lanny Hewitt officiating. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton, WV.
