William Dale Cork, 63, of Wadestown, WV, died Friday, May 6, 2011, at hisresidence after succumbing to brain cancer.Dale, son of the late Burtis and Kathleen Cork, was born July 1, 1947, atRush Run, near Hundred, WV.

A United States Army veteran, Dale served inVietnam with the 1st Air Cavalry Division and received several awards andcommendations including the Vietnam Service Medal with threeBronzeService Stars, Sharpshooter (Rifle), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal,National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Army Commendation Medal, and Air Medal.

He retired after working 37 years for Consolidation Coal Company at theBlacksville No. 2 Mine as a Motor Barn Mechanic. He was also retired from the Hundred Volunteer Fire Department where he had been a member for manyyears, having served in many positions, including Chief.

Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Debra Ann Bartrug Cork; one daughter,Sarah Gibbons of Fairmont; one brother, Mike Cork and wife, Virginia, of Fort Mill, SC; sisters: Linda Snider and husband, Jay, of Clark Lake, MI;Jean Crihfield and friend, Eric Yost, of Hundred, WV; and Pam Fuller and husband, Joe, of Charlotte, NC; beloved niece, Sherry Metz and husband,Gerald, of Hundred, WV, and several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son,Christopher Thomas "Tommy" Cork who died on June 12, 2009; two brothers, James Ronald Cork and Larry David Cork; and two sisters, Sybil Diane Corkand Karen McDonnell and her husband Ike, and Father-in-law, Richard "Dick" Bartrug.

At his request, his remains will be cremated. A memorial service will beheld on Saturday, May 14, 2011, at 11:00 AM in the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred with Evangelist Steve Stevens officiating.
